Acer Laptop Travelmate
Acer has laptops both for business and personal use. You have to know what kind of specs you want before looking around but one of the best to get belongs to its TravelMate series such as the 8200.
The Acer TravelMate 8200 is the first to ever use the 2GHz Intel Core Duo Processor. It also comes with a 120 GB 5400 rpm hard disk drive with antishock protection, 2GB of memory space, a 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics chip and a double-layer DVD burner.
Unlike other laptops you see in the market, this unit is logo free and is colored black just like Acer’s Ferrari 4000. Its upper lid is made out of tough carbon fiber while the rest is from sturdy magnesium alloy.
This TravelMate laptop measures 14.3 inches wide, 11 inches deep and an inch thick. It is lightweight as it only measures 6.6 pounds making it easy to carry. Because of its size, you can only have a screen that measures 15.4 inches which isn’t that bad given its 1,680 x 1,050 pixel resolution.
You don’t have to buy an accessory such as a webcam because there is one already built in the unit. This 1.3-mega pixel can rotate 225 degrees, which allows you to take snapshots at different angles.
The keyboard of the TravelMate laptop has an ergonomic curve. Below that is its rectangular touch pad that is wide with two mouse buttons below it and a scroll button in between.
Above the keyboard, you have 4 application buttons. There are also 2 handy switches that you can turn on or off whenever these are needed namely the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g and the Bluetooth 2.0+EDR that will allow you to upload data from other media sources into the laptop.
The Acer TravelMate 8200 also has plenty of ports, jacks, and slots. On the left, you will find the 56Kbps-modem jack as well as two USB 2.0 ports, a PC Card slot, a smart-card slot and a double-layer DVD burner. On the right, there is the 1 GB Ethernet jack, a VGA port, two more USB 2.0 ports, and an ExpressCard/34 slot.
In front which is facing the user, there is the S/PDIF, headphone, microphone, audio-in jacks, four-pin FireWire and Fast IR ports, and a five-in-one flash media slot. There are also S-Video-out and DVI ports if you want to hook this up to a video cam or the television.
Acer’s TravelMate 8200 laptop also comes with Windows XP professional a its operating system. Those that are concerned about battery life should know that this will last for 3 hours and 20 minutes.
The price for a TravelMate 8200 is about $2,499. It already comes with a one-year warranty so those that want to extend this will have to shell out a little more.
If you are looking for a laptop, perhaps Acer’s TravelMate 8200 is the right one for the job. You can check this out by visiting Acer’s official website, reading articles about this in PC magazine or simply going down to nearest computer store in your neighborhood.
You should also buy a hard case to protect the unit. It isn’t easy to shell out more than two grand to have this toy around especially when you can buy two or three units at the same price.
